With a bit of nostalgia in mind, I recently examined the career of architectural critic Reyner Banham, an Englishman whose love for Los Angeles oddly knew no bounds. I am preparing a longer piece that will bridge his historical assessments of the city with some of the harsher realities of our era. Indeed, Banham's oeuvre on the subject formed a complex vision, a panoptical gaze that moved across the pond and landed on our shores long ago, during a simpler time. From architectural criticism and personal experience to memoir and historical scholarship, his analysis of Los Angeles was many-sided, albeit a bit too enthusiastic at times.

At the moment, I am finishing a large writing project and preparing for a new travel season, which will likely take me (and the dogs) through Northern Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado for the summer. I look forward to sharing the journey with you!

I thank you for your patience and your readership. New work will be forthcoming!

Cheers and welcome to all of my new subscribers!
